12V water pump

Can E106B Run a 12V Camping Water Pump?

Short answer: E106B can be a candidate for a small 12V camping water pump only when the exact pump stays within its documented 12V/10A shared DC group and every other condition also matches. A Pentair Shurflo 4029 example is listed at 12V DC and 5A maximum, so it clears the first current screen on paper. That does not prove connector fit, polarity, starting behaviour, fusing, water separation, installation approval or runtime.

Use PUMP before making a connection

  1. P — Pump label and manual. Record exact model, 12V requirement, maximum current, duty, pressure, fuse and approved cable path.
  2. U — Upper current and shared budget. Compare maximum and startup demand with the E106B 10A/120W shared DC group, then subtract every simultaneous 12V load.
  3. M — Matching connector and polarity. Identify plug size, centre polarity, pin arrangement and cable rating from documentation. A plug that fits physically is not enough.
  4. P — Placement and protection. Keep the station, adapter and connections dry, stable, ventilated and separated from the water container, hose leaks and wet hands.

What the documents establish

Evidence Published field What remains unresolved
E106B DC group 12V, 10A, 120W maximum shared across DC5521 x2 and car output Exact pump connector, polarity, fuse, cable and motor start
Pentair Shurflo 4029 example 12V DC, 5A maximum, 7.6L/min open-flow class E106B compatibility, pressure-cycle behaviour and approved adapter
Other 12V loads Not defined by either product page Lights, fridge, fan or chargers consume the same shared 10A/120W group
Nominal energy E106B stores 384Wh nominally Delivered DC energy, pump duty cycle, pressure and actual runtime

Exactly three screening examples

Example 1: one documented 12V/5A pump

Five amps at 12V is a 60W label screen, below the E106B group's 10A and 120W ceilings. Continue only after connector, polarity, fuse, cable, startup and dry-placement evidence is complete. The 60W calculation is not a test result.

Example 2: the same pump plus another 12V/4A load

The label sum becomes 9A and 108W. That sits close to the shared ceiling before startup or measurement uncertainty, so it is a poor planning margin. Move the second load to a separately documented output path or choose another setup; do not assume every port has its own 10A allowance.

Example 3: a 12V/15A pump

Fifteen amps exceeds the 10A shared current limit before any other load is added. It is not a direct E106B DC fit. Do not add a larger fuse, bypass protection or use an improvised cable to force the connection.

Why flow rate does not choose the power source

Litres per minute describe water delivery, not electrical demand. Pump current changes with pressure, restriction and operating state, while a pressure switch may cycle the motor. Use the exact electrical table and installation manual; do not infer amps from flow rate or from another pump in the same family. If startup current is absent and decisive, ask the pump maker rather than inventing a motor multiplier.

Keep the power path separate from water

  • Place E106B above ground on a stable, dry surface where a split hose or container cannot reach it.
  • Keep hands, plugs and adapters dry before connecting or disconnecting.
  • Protect cables from doorways, wheels, sharp edges, standing water and public walkways.
  • Use only the pump maker's specified fuse, switch, cable size and installation route.
  • Do not put E106B inside a sealed wet locker or block its ventilation.
  • Stop for moisture, damaged insulation, heat, smell, arcing, repeated shutdowns or an unidentified connector.

When E106B may fit—and when it does not

A planning fit may exist Pause or choose another supply
The pump is documented for 12V and its maximum/start demand fits inside the remaining shared 10A/120W budget Voltage, current, startup demand or duty is missing or exceeds the group
Connector, polarity, fuse and cable are approved in writing The plan depends on bare wires, battery clips, a polarity guess or a generic adapter
The station and every connection can remain dry, stable and ventilated Rain, spray, leaks, condensation or wet handling cannot be controlled
The setup is portable and does not alter vehicle or campsite wiring The pump belongs to fixed caravan wiring or an installation requiring qualified work
A real test measures normal operation without alarms or heat A fixed runtime, water volume or unattended operation is required without evidence

Pre-trip checklist

  1. Photograph the exact pump, fuse, adapter and E106B labels.
  2. Write down maximum current and any manufacturer start or pressure-cycle note.
  3. List every simultaneous device on the shared 12V group.
  4. Confirm connector dimensions and polarity from both documents.
  5. Use only approved fused cabling; make no field splice or polarity reversal.
  6. Plan a dry raised position and a hose-leak path away from electronics.
  7. Test the complete system in controlled conditions and record observed current where the approved method permits.
  8. Keep a manual water fallback if the pump or station stops.

Check the E106B 12V group after completing the PUMP screen. A current figure below 10A is necessary but not sufficient; the connector, polarity, fuse, installation and environment still have to pass.

FAQ

Can E106B run any 12V camping pump?

No. The exact pump must match voltage, current, startup behaviour, connector, polarity, fuse and installation requirements while every shared 12V load stays inside 10A/120W.

Does a 5A pump definitely work?

No. Five amps clears only a label-level current screen. Connector, polarity, fuse, startup, pressure cycling, dry placement and approved installation remain unresolved.

Can I use the pump's battery clips on E106B?

Do not improvise a connection. Use only a manufacturer-approved connector and fused cable path documented for both products.

How long will a pump run from 384Wh?

No fixed duration is supported. Pump duty, pressure, delivered DC energy, other loads, battery state, temperature and cut-off behaviour vary.

Can E106B sit beside the water container?

Plan a raised, stable and dry location away from splash, leaks and wet handling. Stop if those conditions cannot be maintained.

Conclusion

E106B's 12V/10A/120W group can screen small pumps, but it is not a universal pump socket. Apply PUMP—Pump label, Upper current, Matching connector, Placement—then test only through an approved fused path in dry conditions. Ask FlashFish Europe before using an undocumented connector or installation path.

Sources and evidence limits

Evidence checked 29 September 2026. No pump, connector, installation, water exposure, current draw or runtime was tested.
